My uncle’s first …
My uncle’s first car was a black 170D, still with the spare wheel on the back.
It brings back childhood memories.
Mind you, the first mutipurpose cars “Unimiog” had the 170D’s engine, “nailing” through forests and along unpaved roads with its 48 hp, lasting forever.

I love beautifull old Mercedes. My grandfather had a V170 (W136) from 1936. It was black.

Mechanical things I …
Mechanical things I can fix myself (that’s why I got the engine running again; 2 pistons stuck, distributing-chain broken; probably the reason why they parked her in the barn, but it runs like sunshine again !) , body and paintwork to, although not really professional.
But with electricity-wiring I would need help and with fixing the interior too. Will tak a while, because I’n self employed and very busy with my work.

I’m a classic Opel fan.
Have been busy restoring Opel Kapitan P2 1963.
Stood in a farmbarn for 37 yrs.
Bodywork was good (fine cause can’t weld), engine; broken, every isolation material of wires and rubbers; powdered, interior; total DISASTER (rats and birds) Got engine running again and busy with body right now. Will probably take still 2 yrs and at least E5000 before restored to old glory.

Thanks for your comment. I think that the best speed when driving on high-roads is about 80-85 km/hour. I only drive faster when testing the engine settings. The maximum speed is 120km/h according to the users manual.
After restoring the car I have driven it for 30000km during the last 14 years. It has always brought me home safetly.
There is no crack in the speedometer glass. Must be a sun-reflex I think.
Have a nice day !!

These old side …
These old side valve engines didn’t have much power, but the 4 cil. Mercedes ones had a very smooth run and were relyable; beautiful classic car, pity about the crack in the glass of the speedometer. 90 is fast enough, otherwise they start to swirl over the road like you’re driving on ice, esp. on old diagonal tires.
