Mercedes no longer owns Chrysler, they sold it to a private company called Cerebus, but I believe they still have a small stake in the company, maybe 15%.

The DaimlerChrysler experiment died in May 2007. That’s when Benz sold the majority of it’s holdings in Chrysler (80.1%) to Cerberus Capital Management. Benz retained a 19.9% share in Chrysler up until very recently. That minority share was dumped as it was a huge drag on the company’s accounting ledgers.
