    i agree, too much …
i agree, too much plastic for everything, plastic dash, steering wheel, even the door skins are plastic. i miss leather and vinyl, carpet and steel. old jags, old american trucks, and of course old mercedes

Well Im sorry i was born 3 years ago to be qualified.

But why would you buy an elise then compare it to a jaguar?

And iv heard pleanty about the elises fogging up and even freezing on the inside during frost. Did you not check out reviews before yout got one?

Personally i was going to buy a elise 6 months ago, but end up with a cosworth for practicality reasons.

    Hah! I AM an …
Hah! I AM an engineer. Structural CAE to be exact. Nastran, Abaqus, ADAMS, NCode.

Us engineers DO take a dig at spelling/grammar because engineering makes one a pedant.

I’ve worked for both Lotus and Jaguar and so know how much engineering goes into each car.

The Elise was engineered to be a sports car but it still should have adequate ventilation, weatherproofing & reliability.

    And dont get me …
And dont get me wrong i love jags for what they are, a luxury car. But i also love elises for what they are a lightweight sports car with no gimmicks.

    lol youy prove my …
lol youy prove my point. Two cars were engineered with different requirements in mind.Jag is luxury and elise is sports. How is the elise meant to be a luxury car?? Its meant to be a lightweigh sports car.

Like i said apples to oranges. Why wud you buy an elise if you want luxury. Again why would you buy a V12 jag if you want to do trackdays.

And get a life trying to take a dig at my spelling. Im studying to be an engineer. We do maths not english.

    No I am not. I was …
No I am not. I was comparing how well each car fullfils its own objectives. I’ve “normalised for design intent”, if you will.

I think that the V12 Jag is a better performance luxury car than the Elise is a sports car. The Elise is great if you can afford it as a 3rd car but as an only car, it doesn’t cut it.

    PS. It’s “You’re”.

    Yeah, I don’t …
Yeah, I don’t understand how people can like plastic boxes like Nissans, Toyotas, Chryslers. Jags were made with love, and the build quality was fantastic. I’m probably going to buy an XJ6 as my next car. Considering the build quality and powerplant under the bonnet, they’re peanuts for what you get as an overall package.

    A lot of teenage …
A lot of teenage muppets just won’t get this car. I loved the Jag V12 when I was 15 and still love it 20 years later. I owned an Elise for 2 1/2 years and have just sold it. It was a car. Noisey, leaky, cold, steams up when it rains, bloody awful ride quality, understeers like mad until it suddenly spins out. What a load of bollocks. Cars like the Double Six will top out at over 140mph (Elise top whack 120mph) and will progressively oversteer when pushed. A very accomplished chassis.

    you’re absolutely …
you’re absolutely right. nowadays cars are too impersonal, and sterile and they all look like spaceships and clones of each other. the older cars are sturdier and have more character, and sleek elegance, with defined character

Beautiful car, looks exceptionally clean. I have one almost identical. ‘91, Regency Red mica but it’s without the ‘Sovereign’ front fog lights and no piping on the seats. And I replaced the standard steering wheel with a proper wooden one.
