When Ford sold Jaguar, did they also sell the Daimler brand?

October 9th, 2010 | by admin |

Back in the 60s Jaguar bought a company called Daimler. They sell fancy versions of Jaguars in Britain that bear the Daimler name. They never sold those in America. Now that they will be using the name lincoln on all the cars and trucks sold in lincoln-mercury dealerships, Lincoln will not sound exclusive anymore. If Ford held on to the right to use the Daimler name, They can start a new hi-end brand called Daimler selling cars made by Ford of Germany. Daimler is one of the oldest car brands and people may think it is a Daimler-Benz product.

Ford doesn’t own it, never has that I know of, Ford has different contracts with owner ship of other things clause out

DAIMLER-BELONGS TO CHRYSLER, WAS NEVER A FORD !!!
ITS JUST A NAME OF THE COMPANY, NOT A PRODUCT !
JAGUAR BOUGHT DAIMLER IN THE 60s, THEN SOLD IT IN A COUPLE OF YEARS… THEN DAIMLER BOUGHT BENZ IN 90s… LEARN SOME HISTORY…

Although Jaguar may have purchased the Daimler car company in the 1960’s, Jaguar doesn’t own Daimler now. So, there is no way Ford could sell Daimler, since they never owned it in the first place.

Tata, which bought Jaguar and Land Rover, owns the rights to the Daimler name. The last Daimler I can recall was a relabeled Jaguar XJ sold as the Daimler Super Eight; I think it’s now out of production.
